STRATEGIC MEDIA DEVELOPMENT

I will help develop the strategy for journalism, debate and therefore, the business of established as well as start-up media. My focus is on involving the target audience in the development of the product.

WORKSHOP

If your media is trying to be closer to whom you create journalism for then, I can help. For example, it could be a workshop with an editorial office that ends with a plan on how you will move closer to the community that you are covering.

KEYNOTES

Why do the world, democracy, and media require constructive journalism - and what is it? I give inspirational presentations based on theoretical knowledge and specific research, as well as 20 years of experience. I will develop the keynotes content to the target audience.

ROOM OF SOLUTIONS

Room of Solutions is a form of debate where we meet to discuss possible solutions to relevant problems. The structure of the debate focuses on involving all participants in a constructive discussion. I can both help with a more extensive course that ends in the Room of Solution and I can facilitate a debate in a new and engaging form.

- Gerd creates results. She urges, challenges and engages in taking new paths strongly based on a clear strategy. And then she makes sure that the effort is rooted in the organization before moving on to the next task.

Poul Kjærgaard, Editor-in-chief Fyens Stiftstidende

- Gerd is a thoughtleader in the development of future journalism and democratic conversation. She is dedicated, experienced and very good at what she does.

Ulrik Haagerup, CEO Constructive Institute

- Gerd is just what the future needs - a rule-breaker, community promoter, creator of ideas and science canon. She not only sees the future, but she also creates it along the way. She is what we future researchers call a real "game-changer.

Jack Nash, CEO & Founder, Example Company

- Gerd is one of the industry's most skilled and development-oriented professionals. I have known Gerd Maria May for many years, and I have also enjoyed being her leader while teaching at the journalistic education at SDU. Her skills and substantial experience in development, teaching and the principles and practices of journalism give her all the prerequisites for her work in developing journalism in an engaging and constructive direction.

Peter Bro, Professor in journalism, Head of Studies at the journalistic education at SDU.

- After workshop and one on one with Gerd, we now have an actionable plan for engaging new communities.

CEO and participant at workshop in audience engagement

- FANTASTIC PRESENTATION AND VERY COMPETENT LECTURER. WE WERE VERY INSPIRED, AND GERD MARIA SHOWED GREAT AND WIDE COMPETENCE ON THE THEME! THIS WILL CHANGE US AS JOURNALISTS!

Jack Nash, CEO & Founder, Example Company

My BACKGROUND

I have more than 20 years of experience in the media industry. In the last ten years, I have worked as a leader focusing on editorial development. As a Fellow at Constructive Institute at Aarhus University, I have done research in constructive journalism and developed a new set of journalistic values; STEP. I am the author of the journalistic textbook in engaging and constructive journalism, "From tower to Square".

I am a speaker, an author and consultant both in Denmark and abroad and teach at universities, postgraduate courses, and media companies. I work with established media companies as well as media start-ups.

MY vision

I think that the democratic conversation is one that everyone should experience as accessible. That the media invites users inside and provides democratic self-confidence to such a degree that everyone feels informed and able to take care of the problems they are experiencing in their lives. Journalism should involve, inform, investigate and inspire. I believe that journalism can engage and motivate people to participate in the positive development of our society. But it requires a change if we want to develop the democratic conversation. A change that I work to achieve, grow, and anchor.
